Mehndi (Henna Tattoo)

We had a lovely day with Minal from Bridal Henna Beauty on the day of our Indian Bridal shoot. Minal is a local Sacramentian Henna artist who does Henna for many occasions, ranging from bridal parties, to any regular parties, to just about any special occasion.
Minal has been doing Henna since she was 10 years old and has since then undergone professional training, and it shows in her work. She was trained by Ash Kumar- a celebrity Henna Artist that has worked on Madonna, Julia Roberts, and Aishwarya Rai.  She did an awesome job on my Henna and also in explaining everything about it- from how it’s made, to how long it lasts, and everything in between!
This really is an interesting and beautiful process and tradition. I hope you enjoy this video and Minal’s work as much as we did.

Henna tattoos are non-permanent dying or staining on the top layer of skin using a henna paste product, the process is called Mehndi. The tattoos are generally an intricate design and brown in color. They will fade in time, about 2-4 weeks, depending on the type of henna that has been used. The art of mehndi has been practiced for hundreds of years and was usually done for weddings or other celebrations.
Mehndi is a popular type of skin adornment in South Asia, the Middle East, North Africa and Somalia.
